Literary translation projects

In addition to my translation of nonfiction works, I translate literature—especially fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry by women from contemporary Latin America and early modern Spain. In 2018, I won a World Literature Today Translation Prize for my translation of the poem “Lucy Says” by Paula Ilabaca Núñez (Chile).

Latin American Literature Today recently published my partial translation of Karina Sosa Castañeda’s Ghost Horse in the “Seeking Publisher” section. Other literary translations include: The Seamstresses by Elena Poniatowska (Toad Press, 2022),“Change of Aim” by Víctor Vásquez Quintas (Noir Nation, 2012), and The Talking Disease by Jair Cortés (Gláphyra, 2008).

In 2022, I was accepted to the Manuscript Workshop of the Bread Loaf Translators’ Conference at Middlebury College where I worked on my translation of Caballo fantasma, an award-winning novel.

In 2024, I  completed a literary translation certificate at Indiana University, which entailed 24 graduate credits and a translation project, including an essay, of approximately 60 pages in length. I am also a long-standing member of the American Literary Translators Association (ALTA).
